Marine South West will be closing down permanently on the 31st March 2009. This is a planned exit. The current national economic situation, particularly in the public sector, has largely caused the drying up of funding. However, over the last 8 years the region's marine businesses have shown well above average growth when compared to the national picture. The legacy that MSW leaves is both substantial and sustainable. These range from the network of three Marine Skills Centres to the Schools Marine Challenge and many others.
The South West Regional Development Agency will continue to support the marine sector as a vital part of the SW economy and are currently developing plans for practical activity. Watch the SWRDA website for more details.
Lastly, we thank you for the support you have given us and we wish you all the very best for the future.
